University of Zagreb Student Wins World Gymnastics Challenge Cup Silver

University of Zagreb student Tina Zelčić, a Kinesiology senior, achieved tremendous success by taking the silver medal in the women's balance beam at the prestigious FIG World Challenge Cup 2026 artistic gymnastics competition held on 24th May 2026 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

The Croatian national representative opened her performance in the Uzbek capital with a fifth-place finish in the qualifications, and in the finals, delivered an even greater and more confident execution and excelled with a higher difficulty score, which earned her the silver medal ahead of the Kazakh representative, Evelina Yezhova.

This is not the first international medal for the Croatian representative and balance beam specialist. In her collection is already the silver medal from last year's FIG World Cup in Doha, bronze from the FIG World Challenge Cup 2024 in Koper and Osijek, silver from the FIG World Challenge Cup 2023 in Varna, and bronze from the same year's FIG World Challenge Cup in Osijek.

With this performance, Tina has once again demonstrated a supreme level of knowledge, skill, and dedication, fortifying her status among the world's top gymnasts.

We congratulate Tina on this extraordinary accomplishment and wish her even greater success in future competitions!
