From 11th to 15th June 2024, the Confucius Institute at the University of Zagreb hosted the Erasmus+ International Staff Week, gathering 23 participants from 15 countries worldwide. This five-day educational and social event, with a focus on Event Management, provided participants with new insights through a series of thematic lectures and practical workshops.
The lecturers from Croaticum helped the attendees overcome language barriers and gave them a brief introduction to the specificities and interesting aspects of the Croatian language. Participants of the Staff Week also visited the building of the University of Zagreb Rectorate where they were welcomed by Prof. Jurica Pavičić, Vice-Rector for International and Interinstitutional Cooperation, Krešimir Jurak, the head of the Confucius Institute at the University of Zagreb, and Prof. Yang Haiyan, the Chinese director of the Institute.
During the programme, experienced lecturers imparted their knowledge to participants in various areas, such as communication management, promotion, marketing, team building, and the use of tools for project and event management. All lectures were enhanced with personal experiences and practical examples.
The Staff Week participants had the opportunity to take part in the Dragon Boat Race on the Jarun lake, a type of race that originated more than 2,000 ago in the southern part of the People's Republic of China as part of the population's folk customs.
In addition to diverse educational content, Staff Week attendees visited the cities of Zagreb and Varaždin, as well as Trakošćan Castle and the Museum of Illusions, further enriching their experience of visiting Croatia.
