U auli Sveučilišta u Zagrebu u ponedjeljak 14. siječnja 2019 u 15.30 sati predavanje će održati Nj. E. Geoff Regan, predsjednik Zastupničkoga doma Kanadskoga parlamenta, u sklopu svojega službenoga posjeta Hrvatskoj. Predavanje će biti na engleskom jeziku pod nazivom Democratic Values and Multilateralism: Our Guide in Turbulent Times (Demokratske vrijednosti i multilateralizam: Naš vodič kroz turbulentna vremena).
Uvodno će govoriti prof. dr. sc. Damir Boras, rektor Sveučilišta u Zagrebu i Nj.E. Daniel Maksymiuk, veleposlanik Kanade u Hrvatskoj, a na pitanja će, zajedno s Nj. E. Geoffom Reganom odgovarati i zastupnice u Kanadskom parlamentu: Nj. E. Candice Bergen (Progresivna konzervativna stranka Kanade) i Kate Young (Liberalna stranka Kanade).

Speaker of the House of Commons
On December 3, 2015, the Honourable Geoff Regan was elected as the 36th Speaker of the House of Commons, the first from Atlantic Canada in almost a hundred years.
Mr. Regan first served in the House of Commons from 1993 to 1997 as the Member for Halifax West, Nova Scotia. He was re-elected in 2000 and served as Parliamentary Secretary to the Leader of the Government in the House of Commons from 2001 until 2003, and was appointed Minister of Fisheries and Oceans from 2003 to 2006.
Following the change in government in 2006, Mr. Regan served as a member of the shadow cabinet and of the Liberal Priorities and Planning Committee, then as Chair of the Caucus Committee on Environmental Sustainability as well as Vice-Chair of the Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development. He was re-elected in 2008 and 2011, and served both as a member of the shadow cabinet and as Vice-Chair of the Standing Committee on Natural Resources.
Speaker Regan lives in Bedford, Nova Scotia with his wife Kelly, who is a Member of the Legislative Assembly and a provincial cabinet minister. They have three adult children: Caitlin, Nicole and Harrison.
