On Monday, 4th February 2019, Rector of the University of Zagreb Professor Damir Boras, Ph. D., received the United States Ambassador to Croatia, H. E. William Robert Kohorst.
Present forms of academic cooperation between Croatia's foremost university - University in Zagreb - and the partner universities in the USA, with which University of Zagreb has maintained an established bilateral cooperation for decades, were discussed during the business meeting.
For the past several years, cooperation within European programmes (namely the Erasmus+ mobility) with The Pennsylvania State University, North Carolina State University, and Indiana University of Pennsylvania has also been developing.
Rector Boras informed the United States ambassador about the programmes of study at the University in Zagreb, its history, and invited him to the commemoration of the 350th anniversary of its founding, which the University observes this year.
Ambassador Kohorst invited the University's academic community to expand its engagement in the government-sponsored Fulbright Program, as well as the Alumni Grants Program which finances small-scale projects, workshops, congresses, etc. in Croatia.
Present at the meeting were employees of the US embassy, Embassy Cultural Attaché Laura Djuragic and Fulbright Program's Public Affairs Section Outreach Coordinator Vanja Ratkovic, as well as representatives of the University: Prof. Ivana Čuković-Bagić Ph. D., Vice-rector for Students, Study Programmes and Quality Management, Prof. Miloš Judaš, Ph. D., Vice-rector for Science, Inter-Institutional Cooperation and International Relations, Prof. Lidija Kos - Stanišić, Ph. D., Rector’s Assistant for Internal Communication and University Media, and Branka Roščić, Ph. D., Head of International Relations Office.
