Innovation in and through Higher Education against the Brain Drain

More than 100 scientists and educators come together in Zagreb in the first week of October to discuss the importance of Innovation in and through higher education throughout the Eastern and Southern Eastern European (ESEE) region. Innovation capacity of this region has severe consequences on the brain drain within the ESEE region – including Croatia.

While the region has a unique raw materials potential, the conference is focusing on innovation in and through higher education connected to the resource industry where current trends of digitalization and automatization could drive economic growth of European and local business ecosystems.

EIT RawMaterials together with the University of Zagreb – Faculty of Mining, Geology and Petroleum Engineering (UNIZG-RGNF) and Montanuniversität Leoben jointly organizes two interconnected Conference and Ideation Events between 2nd and 4th of October, 2019.

”The Future of Raw Materials Higher Education Conference”

will take stock of the current status of higher education and its role in fostering innovation in the field of raw materials exploration, mining, processing and recycling toward Circular Economy and set the ground toward Europe’s and the ESEE region’s digital transformation and how digital pedagogy can help with that in parallel with the growing importance of University- Business Cooperation in tackling Knowledge Triangle Integration.

11th ESEE Dialogue Conference - Sustainable Resource Use – Tailings, Wastes, Slags

The ESEE Dialogue Conferences are a major raw materials conference series for East and South East Europe that have successfully addressed issues in the raw material sector in eight countries in the last four years. Integration into the EIT RawMaterials community, policy framework, education development, resource efficiency and innovation along the raw materials life cycle are the main topics of the conference.
